Police take custody of wanted Anambra social worker.

NigeriaThe Anambra State government has handed over a social worker, Mrs. Chinyere Nwofor, to the Zone 13 Nigeria Police force, following allegations of illegal conduct and breach of duty.

Mrs. Nwofor, formerly the head of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit, was declared wanted by Zone 13 operatives last year.

According to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, Mrs. Nwofor had been removed from her position over a year ago due to questionable behavior. The commissioner noted that the state government has zero tolerance for sharp practices and will not condone any behavior that brings the state to disrepute. Mrs. Nwofor has denied allegations of handing over a child, claiming she was at a hotel for a workshop when the alleged incident occurred. She is currently in police custody.
