First Lady, Kalu support women’s parliament seats.

Nigeria: Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed her support for the seat reservation bill aimed at increasing women’s representation in the parliament.

Speaking at the Art for Governance Exhibition in Abuja, Senator Tinubu urged the National Assembly to expedite the passage of the bill, emphasizing the importance of women’s leadership in shaping the country’s future.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Benjamin Kalu, also threw his weight behind the bill, highlighting the need for justice and equal representation of women in governance processes. The bill, sponsored by Kalu, aims to address the underrepresentation of women in governance, with women comprising nearly 50% of the population but less than 4% of the National Assembly.
