Birmingham, England — Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has admitted that the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa was the most difficult defeat for his side this season.
Despite taking an early lead, Chelsea once again struggled to maintain control, allowing their opponents back into the game, a recurring issue that has cost them 13 points from winning positions since Boxing Day.
Maresca, visibly disappointed, acknowledged the frustration: “This is, for me personally, the toughest defeat of the season. We reacted well after Brighton, played brilliantly, but lacked the finishing touch. The difference is in the box.”
While Chelsea showed improvement, playing with greater intensity, key performances from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez were not enough to secure a result.
