Leicester, England — Arsenal’s Premier League title ambitions remain intact following a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Saturday.
The win, secured by two late goals from substitute Mikel Merino, moves the Gunners within four points of league leaders Liverpool.
Merino, introduced as a replacement for the struggling Raheem Sterling, made an immediate impact, injecting energy into Arsenal’s attack. Ethan Nwaneri provided a decisive assist in the 81st minute, setting up Merino for the breakthrough goal. Just three minutes later, the Spanish midfielder struck again, sealing the victory and crushing Leicester’s hopes of a comeback.
Despite a determined effort from Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester side, Arsenal’s injury-hit squad remained resolute, securing a vital three points.
With key players Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli sidelined, manager Mikel Arteta turned to Leandro Trossard as his makeshift central striker, a tactical adjustment that paid off in keeping Arsenal’s title charge alive.
