Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd dismisses allegations in a viral video questioning the quality of its fuel.
In a statement issued today by NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the company described the claims as baseless, emphasizing that its fuel is produced to meet the highest industry standards.
Soneye reaffirmed that a significant portion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations, which is particularly in Lagos, where the video originated, which is sourced from Dangote Refinery, a key partner in ensuring quality and energy security. He noted that Dangote Refinery adheres to strict global regulations, guaranteeing the durability and efficiency of petroleum products.
Addressing the spread of misinformation, NNPC Ltd condemned the video as a deliberate attempt by economic saboteurs to mislead the public and tarnish the company’s reputation. It warned that it will take legal action against individuals or groups responsible for spreading falsehoods about its operations.
The statement further urged Nigerians to disregard unverified claims and rely on official sources for accurate information. NNPC Ltd remains committed to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and top-tier quality while upholding global best practices.
