Troops Urged to Prioritize Family Health Before Deployments

Gusau, Nigeria  —   The Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, has emphasized the need for military personnel to ensure their families are well-covered under health insurance schemes before engaging in operations.

The call was made during a courtesy visit by Colonel Abdullahi Gambo (retired), the State Manager of Defence Health Management Limited (DHML), to the headquarters of Operation Fansan Yamma in Gusau, Zamfara State.

Speaking on the significance of troops’ well-being, Major General Soyele stressed that a soldier’s peace of mind is directly linked to the welfare of their family.

“A soldier who knows his family is secure health-wise can focus better on the battlefield,” he remarked. “Prioritizing family health before deployment is not just a necessity but a duty.”

He commended DHML’s efforts in promoting healthcare awareness among military personnel and encouraged troops to actively engage with the available health insurance schemes.

In his remarks, Colonel Gambo described the visit as part of an ongoing sensitization campaign across military formations in Zamfara. He reiterated DHML’s commitment to ensuring troops and their families have access to quality healthcare services.

Acknowledging the achievements of Operation Fansan Yamma in counterterrorism efforts across the North West and Niger, he assured the military of DHML’s continued partnership in supporting their health needs.

The statement concluded with a firm commitment to strengthening health insurance awareness, ensuring that troops remain focused and mission-ready.
