Scholes Warns Manchester Utd Could Face Relegation Threat

Manchester, England—  Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has raised concerns over the club’s future, warning that the team could struggle for survival next season if they fail to strengthen their squad.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, a show brought to fans by Sky Bet, Scholes emphasized the need for major reinforcements, stating that United lacks a strong core and is vulnerable across multiple positions.

“There are serious concerns about this team. Ruben Amorim has a lot of work to do, especially in the transfer market, but when I look at this squad, I don’t see a solid spine,” Scholes remarked.

Comparing United’s structure to their Premier League rivals, the former England international pointed out the deficiencies in key positions.

“Look at Liverpool, they have a top-class goalkeeper, a strong centre-back, quality midfielders, and dangerous forwards. United, on the other hand, lack that foundation in every area.”

Scholes stressed that United must secure at least five key signings, particularly in goalkeeping, central defense, midfield, and attack, to stabilize the squad and avoid disaster.

“A new goalkeeper is essential, possibly two centre-backs, two central midfielders, and two centre-forwards,” he suggested. “Alright, maybe one midfielder and one forward, but they need to have stature, presence, and real quality to establish a solid core.”

Highlighting the club’s inconsistent form under Amorim, Scholes issued a stark warning.

“If they don’t get their transfers right this summer, it might sound ridiculous, but based on their current trajectory, they could be battling relegation. I’m serious, it has been that bad.”
