Gusau, Nigeria — The Zamfara State Government has commended the troops of Operation Fansan Yanma for their recent success in neutralizing over 50 bandits, including five notorious kingpins, in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
The commendation was delivered by the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, in an official statement recognizing the military’s dedication and tactical expertise in combating banditry.
Highlighting the impact of recent operations, Dantawasa praised the air-supported military offensive, which has significantly improved security in the Zurmi-Shinkafi region.
“The successful elimination of these notorious bandit leaders and their fighters is a clear demonstration of our troops’ bravery, skill, and commitment to restoring peace in Zamfara and the entire northwest,” he stated
Among those neutralized were infamous kingpins Kachalla Na Faransa, Kachalla Sanni Bammuwa, Auta, Audu Gajere, and Bako Malaika, all linked to terrorist factions in Mali and former associates of the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. These criminals were reportedly operating from Dutsen Kura forest in Mashema, Zurmi Local Government Area.
Additionally, troops engaged in a fierce battle at Ruwan Dawa village, Maru Local Government Area, where two other bandit leaders, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, were killed alongside four of their associates.
Dantawasa acknowledged that the operation had restored hope to communities long plagued by violent attacks, kidnappings, and other criminal activities. He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid offering refuge to fleeing bandits.
The Zamfara State Government reaffirmed its unwavering support for security forces, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability across the region.
