Adeboye Denies Involvement in TikToker SeaKing’s Arrest

Lagos, Nigeria —  Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has distanced himself from the arrest of TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as SeaKing.

Addressing worshippers during the RCCG’s monthly Holy Ghost Service at Redemption City, Ogun State, Adeboye clarified that he neither ordered nor supported the arrest. He called for SeaKing’s immediate release, stating that individuals angered by the TikToker’s comments acted on their own accord.

“I was told someone insulted me because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I didn’t ask him to fast. I didn’t even ask non-RCCG members,” Adeboye remarked. “I heard some people got angry and arrested him. Release him; he is fulfilling prophecy.”

The controversy surrounding SeaKing’s detention has sparked social media reactions, with human rights activist Omoyele Sowore alleging that the arrest was based on a petition submitted in Adeboye’s name.

Sowore, who visited the TikToker in police custody, claimed the petition was filed by one Paul James Adama on behalf of a Christian association allegedly linked to Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

He further suggested that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, a known RCCG member, influenced the case. Sowore took to Facebook, accusing the RCCG leadership of involvement and calling for the separation of religious institutions from the Nigerian state.

As concerns mount over SeaKing’s whereabouts following a reported transfer from his previous detention location, the case continues to generate public outcry.
