Imo, Nigeria —The Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful neutralization of three “deadly terrorist kingpins” associated with the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo State.
The operation, which took place on January 24, 2025, was conducted by police operatives following credible intelligence about the terrorists’ hideouts.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police operatives located the ESN hideout in a forest within Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.
Upon approaching the hideout, the operatives were met with heavy fire from suspected ESN terrorists, the armed wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
During the operation, six members of the terrorist group were neutralized, including three identified as ESN kingpins: Ifeanyi Anayo (aka Zuma De Rock), Chukwuemeka Odionyenfe (aka Nmimi), and Kingsley Sunday.
Additionally, the police recovered five AK-47 rifles, 552 rounds of live ammunition, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), communication equipment, and eight operational motorcycles used by the group.
The police further noted that the ESN group was involved in various high-profile crimes, such as the attack on the Owerri Correctional Center, killing of policemen in Umunna, burning of the Arondizuogu Police Station, and multiple kidnappings, including those of WAEC staff, reverend sisters, and Chinese nationals on different occasions.
