Anambra NUJ Re-elects Dr. Emeka Odogwu as Chairman 

Awka, Anambra StateThe Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, has re-elected Dr. Emeka Odogwu as its Chairman after a decisive victory in the union’s election.

Dr. Odogwu, a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, secured 173 votes to defeat Ngozi Obileri of the Anambra Broadcasting Service Chapel, who garnered 40 votes.

In another keenly contested position, Chibuzo Obidike emerged as Treasurer with 168 votes, surpassing Ogemdi Ozoemenam, who received 45 votes.

Other positions were filled unopposed, with Betty Onuchukwu elected as Vice Chairman and Comrade Okechukwu Onuegbu as the Secretary of the council.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Odogwu expressed gratitude to journalists in the state for renewing their trust in him. He pledged to elevate the union to greater heights and prioritize the welfare of its members. He also commended the outgoing Executive for their dedication and vowed to work collaboratively with the newly elected officers.

The election, conducted by NUJ Zone C Secretary Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku, was described as seamless and transparent. Adiuku urged members to remain committed to advancing the union’s objectives.

Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Anambra State, Comrade Humphrey Okafor, also lauded the NUJ for conducting a transparent and professional election process.
