Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has apprehended Abubakar Idris, also known as Nishi, a notorious gang leader, along with his accomplices, Buhari Saidu and Musa Ahmadu Suleiman, for the gruesome murder of Ibrahim Danfulani in a case of love rivalry.
According to the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, investigations revealed that Nishi orchestrated the attack on Danfulani out of jealousy. Danfulani had expressed intentions to marry a woman in whom Nishi had heavily invested financially. Consumed by rage and frustration, Nishi, with the help of his accomplices, fatally attacked Danfulani with knives on November 27, 2024.
The gang also allegedly stole 18 cows belonging to the victim, which they claimed were compensation for Nishi’s perceived financial losses in the failed romantic pursuit.
A significant breakthrough in the case occurred when Nishi, who had fled to Nasarawa State, was tracked and arrested by police operatives. Reports revealed that he was planning to recruit new gang members to murder the woman at the center of the conflict.
SP Adeh commended the swift and coordinated efforts of the FCT Police Command, aided by residents of the Agaita community in Karu, which led to the arrest of all suspects.
The three suspects are now in police custody and will face prosecution for their crimes.
The FCT Police Command reiterated its dedication to protecting lives and property and urged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08061581938, 08032003913, 08028940883, CRU: 08107314192, PCB: 09022222352.
