Court Remands Four for Alleged Theft of Aircraft Brake in Kano

Kano, Nigeria  —  Four suspects have been remanded in prison custody by Magistrate’s Court No. 70 in Kano State over allegations of theft and conspiracy.

The accused whose name is Nuhu Auwalu, Yakubu Bala, Emmanuel Luka, and Safianu Abdullahi, allegedly conspired to steal 80 aircraft brake units belonging to Azman Airlines at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.

According to the charge sheet, the incident was reported by Otaru Bashir, an employee of Azman Airlines, on December 11, 2024. Investigations revealed that a security guard employed by the airline allegedly collaborated with the accused to carry out the theft.

During the court proceedings, it was disclosed that three aircraft brake units were found in the possession of Yakubu Bala. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Justice Faruk Ibrahim Umar, who presided over the case, ordered the suspects to be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the hearing to February 11, 2025.

The case underscores concerns about internal security lapses at critical infrastructure points, with authorities vowing to investigate further and bring all culprits to justice.
