Mohbad’s Death Changed My Life for the Better—Father

Abuja, Nigeria  —  Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has revealed that his life significantly improved following his son’s tragic death.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, Aloba stated, “Yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death. He was my friend and had so many plans for me, but those plans were cut short. However, after his passing, it was as though Mohbad’s spirit and God united to send people to assist me.”

Aloba expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from Nigerians, which he credits for transforming his circumstances. He explained, “Everything I have now, from the car to the block industry, came through people’s generosity. It’s beyond ordinary, and I believe it’s Mohbad’s spirit and God working through them.”

Reflecting on his son’s life and untimely demise, Aloba shared details about Mohbad’s challenges, particularly concerning his properties. He alleged that Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family controlled much of his late son’s assets. He further revealed, “Even the land Mohbad bought for me to build a church was later used as his burial site.”

Aloba disclosed that Mohbad had plans to purchase a house after completing his tour and had fully paid for it before his death. He recounted how Mohbad supported him even as a child, beginning as a backup singer at the tender age of one.

“Mohbad’s birth changed my life and led me into music after money from his naming ceremony was stolen,” Aloba noted. Identifying himself as a carpenter, singer, and pastor without a church, Aloba shared that his late son had promised to build him a place of worship.

During the interview, Aloba showcased his newly acquired block industry, a truck, and a Toyota Highlander SUV, all gifts from compassionate Nigerians who were moved by his story.

Since Mohbad’s death, Aloba has released nine tribute songs in memory of his son, whom he described as an inspiration.

Mohbad passed away in Lagos on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26. His death sparked widespread controversy, including the arrest of an unlicensed nurse, accused of administering a tetanus vaccine to the singer. The Lagos State Police Command later confirmed her lack of credentials.
