Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), located in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has announced an indefinite closure following a protest by students over issues related to result verification.
The protest stemmed from delays in verifying National Diploma (ND) results for students who had completed their studies at other polytechnics. The frustration over these delays led to a disruption, prompting the institution’s management to close the campus for safety reasons.
Yemi Ajibola, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the closure, emphasizing the need to ensure the safety of lives and property amidst the unrest.
The statement read, “The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, have announced the closure of the polytechnic effective from Monday, January 13, 2025, until further notice. This decision is to ensure the safety of lives and property due to the protest by some students regarding the management’s decision to verify their National Diploma results from their previous schools.”
