Keffi, Nasarawa State — The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken an 85-year-old man, Ibrahim Haruna, into custody for allegedly defiling a 4-year-old girl in the Kongo community of Keffi Local Government Area.
The incident reportedly occurred in early January and came to light when the victim’s elder sister noticed her walking uncomfortably and bleeding. Alarmed, the sister questioned the child, who revealed the alleged assault.
Speaking to the press, NSCDC Public Relations Officer Jerry Victor disclosed that the suspect had allegedly lured the girl into his room while others were absent.
A medical examination presented during the briefing confirmed that the child had been defiled.
Victor assured the public that the matter would be handed over to the Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice for thorough investigation and prosecution. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Haruna denied the allegations, claiming he was being falsely accused.
Reports indicate that the victim’s family and the suspect are neighbors in the community.
Cultist Crackdown in Lafia
In a separate development, the NSCDC Nasarawa State Command arrested three suspected cultists in Lafia for alleged harassment and destruction of property in the Layin Yan Kaji and Super Cinema areas.
According to Jerry Victor, the arrests followed reports of disturbances in the affected neighborhoods. Items seized from the suspects included two locally made pistols, live cartridges, ammunition, mobile phones, pliers, and scissors.
This crackdown comes on the heels of a suspected cult clash in December 2024, which led to the destruction of six vehicles and the burning of a motorcycle during the festive season.
Victor reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of public and private infrastructure throughout the state.
