Liverpool, England — David Moyes has officially returned to Everton Football Club as their manager, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The announcement marks Moyes’ return to Goodison Park, where he previously managed the Toffees from 2002 to 2013, establishing himself as one of the club’s most successful managers. The 61-year-old Scottish coach has been tasked with restoring stability to the club after a turbulent period.
Expressing his excitement about rejoining the club, Moyes stated, “Everton has always been close to my heart. I’m thrilled to be back and look forward to working hard with the players, staff, and supporters to achieve success once again.”
During his first tenure at Everton, Moyes earned praise for leading the club to consistent top-half Premier League finishes and European qualifications. Now, he returns at a crucial time as the club seeks to improve its league standing and regain competitiveness.
Everton Chairman, Bill Kenwright, voiced optimism about Moyes’ return, saying, “David’s deep connection with Everton, coupled with his experience and leadership, makes him the ideal candidate to guide us forward. We have full confidence in his ability to lead us through this challenging period.”
Moyes rejoins the Premier League after a successful spell at West Ham United, where he secured their first European trophy in over five decades by winning the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League.
The move is seen as a fresh start for Everton, with fans hopeful that Moyes’ familiarity with the club and his proven track record will bring about a resurgence. As the team prepares for a challenging run of fixtures, supporters remain optimistic about the impact Moyes’ leadership will have on their season.
