EKITI – A search is underway for a man who fled after buying 59.20 litres of fuel worth N58,548.4 at a filling station in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, shows the man driving off without paying, leaving the elderly fuel attendant in tears and debt.o
Social media user @Liltuffsb shared the footage on X (formerly Twitter), noting that the man drove a Honda Accord End of Discussion car with the plate number GGE576DY. While his car was being filled, he discreetly opened the station gate wider to facilitate his escape.
“The incident occurred in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State. He drives a Honda Accord (End of Discussion) with plate number GGE576DY. As his car was getting filled, he walked to open the gate wider to aid his escape. Please help get this criminal caught and raise awareness,” @Liltuffsb wrote.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with many blaming the station’s lack of a “pay-before-service” policy. Critics also highlighted the importance of ensuring payment before dispensing fuel to avoid such occurrences.
Some commenters expressed sympathy for the attendant, while others condemned the driver’s actions, noting that his face and car details are now circulating widely online.
