Fire razes shops in Ibadan, properties worth millions destroyed

A fire incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at the Tollgate area along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State. The inferno ravaged four shops, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

According to sources, the incident occurred around 5:50 a.m. and was reported to the Oyo State Fire Service. The General Manager of the agency, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

Akinyinka stated that the fire was caused by a naked flame left unattended by a woman cooking in one of the affected shops. He noted that although properties worth millions of naira were destroyed, multiple shops were saved from the inferno.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. The Oyo State Fire Service has warned against the dangers of unattended flames and emphasized the importance of fire safety measures.
