A devastating attack occurred in Benue State, Nigeria, on Christmas Day, resulting in the loss of at least 11 lives.
The attack took place in Nyiev-ya, Kwande Local Government Area, where unidentified gunmen invaded several communities, killing and burning houses .
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, described as terrorist herders, invaded Ubutu and GSS Anwase, leaving a trail of destruction and death. A resident who preferred to remain anonymous confirmed the attack, stating that the community received a distress message that Nyiev-ya was under attack .
The President General of Mzough U Tiv Worldwide, Iorbee Ihagh, described the attack as unprovoked and confirmed that 11 people were killed. He also stated that many are still missing, and leaders of the affected communities have reported the attack at the police station .
Another local, Solomon Amande, confirmed the death of 11 persons, attributing the killings to armed herders and militia groups. However, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, claimed to have no information on the incident ¹.
