A devastating lone accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus occurred at Saapade on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, resulting in the loss of two lives and injuring 15 others.
According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, the accident happened on Thursday at 4:34 p.m. Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to a tyre burst, which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The bus subsequently somersaulted and crashed.
Okpe reported that there were 18 people in the bus, with nine men, five women, two boys, and two girls on board. The injured victims, comprising eight men, four women, two boys, and one girl, were rushed to PATMAG Hospital in Ogere for treatment. Unfortunately, two people lost their lives in the accident – a man and a woman – whose bodies were deposited at the State General Hospital morgue in Isara.
The FRSC spokesperson emphasized that the Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, urged drivers to exercise extra caution and ensure their vehicles are in good condition, especially during periods of high traffic volume.
