A 27-year-old man, Taiwo Ajala, was reprimanded by a Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday for urinating in a public space.
Ajala was apprehended for urinating within the court premises and was punished by the court’s President, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo. She ordered him to kneel, face the wall, raise his hands, and close his eyes as a form of correction for polluting the environment.
The court also instructed the police to charge Ajala as an offender. However, Ajala pleaded for leniency, tearfully asking for forgiveness, stating that he was unaware that urinating in public was an offense.
After considering his plea, Akintayo decided to pardon Ajala and advised him to refrain from such behavior in the future.
