President Bola Tinubu has narrated how the hike in the price of fuel affected one of his friends.
Tinubu disclosed that his friend who owned five Rolls Royce transitioned to Honda Accord due to the high cost of fuel.
He disclosed this during his presidential media chat at his residence in Lagos State.
According to Tinubu: “My friend used to have about five Rolls-Royces; the other day I saw him in his Honda; he said that is when you (Tinubu) out me, then I said I didn’t put you there, he said because of fuel price, he could no longer manage a five-limo type of vehicle.”
Tinubu had ended fuel subsidy regime leading to a hike in the price of fuel during his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
Under Tinubu, petrol prices soared from under N200 per litre to over N1,100 across Nigeria, while the naira’s exchange rate plummeted from around ₦700/$ to over ₦1,600.
Meanwhile, the president had urged Nigerians to be good managers.
