The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has beseeched and advised accredited Observers for the concluded 2023 General Elections to table down their reports to enhance its Operation for future elections and deepen the Nation’s democracy.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu gave the advice in Abuja during a meeting with Civil Society Organisations on the review of the 2023 General Election
Professor Yakubu said only 67 Observer groups out of the 228 groups accredited for the General Election have so far submitted their reports which was just about 30% of the accredited groups.
He however applauded the role played by the 190 domestic and foreign observers in the last polls saying the meeting would enable the commission share its plan with the observers on the Forthcoming off season Governorship elections.
The INEC Boss cleared the air that the commission did not collect monetary assistance from any domestic or foreign organizations for the conduct of the 2023 elections.
While speaking on behalf of the groups, the Executive Director Center for Transparency Advocacy, Mrs Faith Nwadishi called on those who have not submitted their reports to do so as the recommendations would help in bringing reforms into the nation’s electoral system.
