DHQ Denies Claims of Foreign Military Base in Nigeria

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed reports suggesting the presence or planned establishment of foreign military bases in Nigeria, including claims about a French military base in the North East.

In a statement on Monday, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, debunked allegations circulating online that French soldiers had arrived in Maiduguri to set up a base.

“These claims are false and baseless,” Buba stated, urging the public to disregard the rumors, which he described as attempts by mischief-makers to create unnecessary panic.

He reassured Nigerians that the military remains committed to its constitutional mandate of safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring security.
