Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, has achieved a historic milestone by exporting its first batch of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon, in partnership with Neptune Oil. This marks the refinery’s inaugural international shipment and a significant step toward regional energy integration.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to fostering economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon while addressing the growing energy needs of the region.
“This first export of PMS to Cameroon is a testament to our vision for a united and energy-independent Africa,” said Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of Dangote Group. “We are setting the stage for a future where Africa’s resources are refined and utilized within the continent to benefit its people.”
Antoine Ndzengue, Director and Owner of Neptune Oil, highlighted the impact on Cameroon’s energy landscape: “This partnership with Dangote Refinery is transformative for our nation. By directly importing petroleum products from a world-class facility, we are strengthening our energy security and advancing local economic development. This initial shipment, completed without international intermediaries, underscores our dedication to efficient and independent market operations.”
The partnership extends beyond this first shipment, as both companies are working on initiatives to establish a stable supply chain aimed at reducing fuel costs and creating economic opportunities across the region.
For Nigeria, the export highlights Dangote Refinery’s capacity to meet domestic fuel demands while positioning itself as a key player in the regional energy market. It also provides Cameroon with access to high-quality, locally sourced petroleum products.
Located in Lagos, Dangote Refinery boasts a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, making it the world’s largest single-train refinery. It represents a flagship initiative by Dangote Group to revolutionize Africa’s energy sector.
Neptune Oil, a prominent energy company in Cameroon, is dedicated to providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions. Its collaborations with international partners continue to drive economic growth and energy security in the region.
