President Bola Tinubu has made significant adjustments to the list of nominees for the South East Development Commission (SEDC) Board, replacing the proposed Chairman, Mr. Emeka Atuma, with Dr. Emeka Nworgu.
In a revised submission, the President replaced all three Executive Directors from the original list, added two new Executive Directors, and removed a Board member, Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa. Despite these changes, Mark Okoye retains his position as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the 16-member Board, which now includes one additional member.
A statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the changes. Stanley Ohajuruka is now nominated as Executive Director of Finance, replacing Anthony Ugbo. Toby Okechukwu will serve as Executive Director of Projects, taking over from Obinna Obiekweihe, while Chief Sylvester Okonkwo assumes the role of Executive Director of Corporate Services, succeeding Dr. Daniel Ugwuja.
The newly added Executive Directors without portfolios are Chidi Echeazu and Dr. Clifford Ogbede.
Several nominees from the initial list were retained, including Ugochukwu Agballah, Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Ali Kumo. Others retained are Edward Onoja, Orure Inima, and Mrs. Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
The nominations, subject to Senate confirmation, reflect the President’s vision for leveraging the expertise of the Board members to drive the Commission’s mandate of fostering development in the South East region.
