Algeria to Host 3rd All Africa Military Games

Algeria has been announced as the host of the 3rd All Africa Military Games (AMGA) following the successful conclusion of the 2024 edition in Abuja on November 30, 2024. The hosting baton was officially handed over during the closing ceremony at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.  

The event, which lasted 12 days, ended with a vibrant celebration featuring performances by Nigerian music star Omawumi and cultural displays by traditional troupes, highlighting Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity and unity.

Team Nigeria dominated the 2024 edition, topping the medal table with an impressive 234 medals, including 114 gold, 65 silver, and 55 bronze. Algeria secured second place with 96 medals (64 gold, 22 silver, and 10 bronze), while Kenya came third with 50 medals (21 gold, 17 silver, and 12 bronze).

Ghana finished fourth with 36 medals (seven gold, 14 silver, and 15 bronze), followed by Ethiopia in fifth place with 16 medals (six gold, eight silver, and two bronze).

A total of 20 countries participated in the competition. However, Zambia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Equatorial Guinea concluded their campaigns without securing any medals.
