President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a three-day state visit to France on Wednesday, following an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the visit will focus on deepening political, economic, and cultural ties between Nigeria and France. Key areas of collaboration will include agriculture, security, education, health, youth empowerment, innovation, and energy transition.
On Thursday, President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu will be formally received by President Macron and his wife, Brigitte, at the historic Les Invalides and the Élysée Palace. This will precede bilateral discussions aimed at fostering stronger cooperation in skill development, automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership, particularly for Nigerian youth.
The leaders will also deliberate on shared priorities in finance, solid minerals, trade, investment, and communication. Additionally, both presidents will attend a session of the France-Nigeria Business Council, which oversees private-sector initiatives to bolster economic development.
Brigitte Macron and Senator Oluremi Tinubu are expected to hold discussions on women’s and children’s empowerment, focusing on the Nigerian First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which supports vulnerable groups.
President Tinubu and the First Lady will be honored at a state dinner hosted by President Macron before concluding their visit.
A delegation of senior government officials will accompany the President on the trip.
