Senate Confirms Oloworaran as Director General of PenCom

The Senate has officially confirmed Omolola Oloworaran as the Director General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom). Her confirmation came during plenary following the adoption of the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service’s report.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier forwarded her nomination to the Senate, seeking her confirmation after several months of acting in the role. Oloworaran was appointed as acting DG in July 2024, pending the completion of legislative processes as mandated by the Pension Reform Act of 2014.

An advocate for innovation and operational efficiency, Oloworaran brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector. Her career includes notable roles at Citibank, Renaissance Capital, FDHL Consulting, Stanbic IBTC Bank, and First Bank, where she served as Group Head of First Shared Services.

A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment (CISI), she earned her accounting degree from the University of Ilorin and an MBA from Manchester Business School. She has also participated in INSEAD’s prestigious Transforming Business Using AI program in France.

As PenCom’s leader, Oloworaran is committed to advancing the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), expanding its membership, and improving retirement benefits payments. Her priorities include fostering collaboration within the pension industry and enhancing the investment outlook for contributors and retirees, ensuring sustainable growth in pension assets.
