ACF Chairman Suspended Over 2027 Presidency Remarks

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has suspended its National Executive Council (NEC) Chairman, Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, following his controversial remarks regarding the 2027 presidential elections. The decision comes just 24 hours after Osuman criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration and declared support for a northern presidential candidate in the next general elections.

The suspension was announced after the ACF’s NEC meeting, held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the group’s headquarters in Kaduna.

In a joint statement signed by the ACF Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu (Wazirin Dutse), and Secretary-General, Alhaji Murtala Aliyu (Matawallen Gombe), the forum dissociated itself from Osuman’s comments, stating that his remarks did not reflect the collective position of the ACF.

“The statements were made by the NEC Chairman without consulting or discussing with other leaders and members of the ACF and thus, reflected Mr. Osuman’s personal opinion only. ACF rejects Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman’s statements in their entirety,” the statement read.

As a result, the BOT and NEC leadership decided to suspend Osuman immediately. The forum also disclosed that a committee has been established to investigate the matter further.

The ACF reaffirmed its commitment to unity and neutrality, emphasizing that individual opinions must not be mistaken for the position of the forum.
