The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its resolve to challenge the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 state elections. During a recent address to party leaders from the Ibadan Outer City zone, APC’s Acting Chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, emphasized that the party’s focus is on regaining the Agodi Government House and restoring APC leadership in Oyo.
Abas highlighted the strategic work underway, sharing that the party has achieved internal unity and welcomed back members who had previously left during the last election cycle. He stated that the party is witnessing a steady influx of former PDP members and defectors from other political affiliations who are joining APC ranks, strengthening their base ahead of 2027.
Reflecting on Governor Seyi Makinde’s back-to-back victories over APC candidates in 2019 and 2023, Abas expressed optimism that the party’s renewed harmony and an “array of eminent personalities” signal a stronger, more prepared APC. He noted the significance of the support demonstrated by various local leaders, adding that the party is already mobilizing resources and strategies to ensure a smooth pathway to reclaiming power.
