Bauchi State Police Command has reportedly neutralized six suspected armed bandits in the Ningi local government area, recovering a cache of weapons during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, announced on Friday that the bandits were engaged and eliminated during a gunfight with police officers from the Ningi Division, working in cooperation with local security personnel.
Recovered items include two AK-47 rifles, two AK-49 rifles, a dane gun, one single-barrel gun, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and three magazines.
In further operations across Alkaleri and Toro local government areas, additional weapons were seized. A 42-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Ibrahim, was apprehended with two AK-47 rifles. He confessed to acquiring the firearms from a relative for N250,000, citing the need to protect his cattle.
Police also retrieved 343 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and one magazine from Ibrahim. Commissioner Mohammed confirmed that Ibrahim would face court proceedings upon completion of the investigation.
