A man was arrested on Monday after forcibly entering the Moroccan Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, where he smashed windows and displayed a rainbow flag from one of the embassy’s windows, according to police reports.
The situation intensified when the suspect, reportedly armed with a knife, barricaded himself inside a room within the embassy. Swedish police were forced to intervene and apprehend him, as reported by local news outlet *Aftonbladet*.
While the suspect’s motives remain unclear, police have confirmed he is being investigated for multiple offences, including breaking and entering, aggravated vandalism, and causing bodily harm. Authorities stated that a passerby was injured by shattered glass from one of the broken windows.
“The individual was not seriously injured and intended to seek medical attention independently,” police said in a statement.
As of now, the Moroccan Embassy has not responded to requests for comment from AFP regarding the incident.
