Wike: Abuja Industrial Park to Create 40,000 Jobs

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, announced that the ongoing construction of the Idu Industrial Park in Abuja is set to provide employment for over 40,000 youths upon completion, boosting both the local and national economy.

During an inspection of the site on Wednesday, Wike praised the efforts of Zeberced Construction Company, which is spearheading the project. He emphasized the park’s potential to spur economic growth and provide much-needed job opportunities for young people in the region.

“The industrial park will operate as a free trade zone, attracting numerous companies to establish operations here,” Wike stated. “With consistent power supply, it will provide a conducive environment for manufacturers and businesses to thrive. The project is expected to directly employ over 40,000 youths, which is a significant achievement.”

Wike assured that the government is committed to supporting this investment, highlighting the importance of finalizing necessary approvals to ensure swift progress. “I have instructed the Executive Secretary of the FCDA to expedite the approval process with the Federal Ministry of Finance, so that construction can proceed smoothly and everyone can benefit from this initiative,” he added.

The minister further highlighted the industrial park’s potential to transform the Idu community, stating that such projects are essential for sustainable development. He expressed confidence that the park would be fully operational within the next few years, benefiting the economy and the community at large.

“Seeing the ongoing construction, we are confident that, within eight to nine months, the area will be fully developed, offering vast opportunities,” Wike said. He commended Zeberced for its dedication to advancing Abuja’s growth and reaffirmed the government’s support for the initiative.

Wike also noted the high quality of materials being produced at the park, emphasizing the importance of promoting locally-made products. “The quality of these pipes is exceptional, and there is no reason for anyone to shy away from promoting ‘Made in Nigeria’ products,” he remarked.

In his closing comments, Wike lauded Zeberced for its exceptional work, calling the industrial park a future “wonderland” and a major step towards advancing Nigeria’s economy.
