The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has announced that President Bola Tinubu will soon submit the whistleblowing policy to the National Assembly for legislative approval.
Edun made this statement during a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, titled “Implementing the Whistleblowing Policy in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges, and the Way Forward.”
He emphasized that the Federal Government relies on the cooperation of Nigerians to ensure that the policy fosters greater accountability and transparency in governance.
“The responsibility lies with us to uphold these provisions and support those who step forward for the public good,” Edun said, adding that the policy includes protections for whistleblowers.
He further stressed the importance of defending individuals who act courageously in reporting wrongdoing.
The minister expressed the Federal Government’s expectation of public support in making the policy effective, with the goal of enhancing transparency, integrity, and accountability in the country.
