Bauchi Police Arrest Two Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Property

The Bauchi State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested two suspects, 24-year-old Aliyu Aliyu, also known as Jagaba, and 17-year-old Abdulrahman Ibrahim, popularly known as Abdun Umma, for their alleged involvement in robbery.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, on Tuesday confirmed that the suspects were apprehended on Monday, August 26, 2024, in the Unguwan Jahun area of Bauchi metropolis.

“The RRS, led by CSP Sani Mohammed, in collaboration with local vigilantes (‘yan committee), made a breakthrough by intercepting a tricycle carrying suspicious individuals in Unguwan Jahun,” Wakil stated.

Despite an attempted escape, the police successfully captured the two suspects, which Wakil noted was a significant step in curbing crime in the state.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in multiple armed robbery operations and admitted to stealing valuable items from several homes.

Recovered items from the suspects include five laptops, four mobile phones, five power banks, one router, six wristwatches, an audio player, and a clipper.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police (CP) commended the arrest and recovery, describing it as a major achievement. He reiterated the command’s commitment to eradicating crime, assuring that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.

The CP praised the RRS team and assured Bauchi residents of continued efforts to combat criminal activities.
