Toke Makinwa, a Nollywood actress and media personality, has expressed her disapproval of individuals who have resorted to stealing and vandalizing properties during the nationwide protest in Nigeria.
The protest, initiated by a cross-section of Nigerians to highlight the high levels of hardship in the country, has been marred by incidents of looting and destruction of government and private properties by some hoodlums.
In a statement posted on her social media platform, Toke Makinwa condemned the actions of those taking advantage of the protest to commit criminal acts. She emphasized that destroying properties and stealing from fellow Nigerians, who are also experiencing hardship, is unacceptable and distressing.
Addressing a critic who misunderstood her stance, Makinwa clarified that she did not attribute the crimes to the protesters themselves.
Rather, she highlighted the fact that the victims of the looting and vandalism are fellow Nigerians grappling with the same challenges and difficulties faced by those participating in the protest.
