Ogun court limits protesters to four designated areas.

The Ogun State High Court has issued a ruling restricting the locations and timing of #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests in the state.

The court’s decision, made in response to an application filed by the State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, aims to ensure that protests are conducted in an organized and peaceful manner.

According to the court order, protesters are limited to four specific locations in Ogun State: MKO Stadium in Abeokuta, Ansar-ud-Deen Comprehensive High School in Ota, Remo Divisional High School in Sagamu, and Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode. The timeframe for the protests has also been restricted to between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Attorney-General highlighted that these locations were selected across the various divisions of the state, allowing protesters in those areas to participate safely and without causing disruption to non-protesting members of the public. The judge emphasized the importance of maintaining order and protecting the rights of all individuals involved.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State has been tasked with enforcing the court’s order, ensuring that protests are held only within the specified locations and during the designated hours. The order is set to last for seven days, with the state required to serve notice of the application within that timeframe.

Protesters have been given 72 hours to respond to the application, with the case adjourned to August 6, 2024.
