NiDCOM to Repatriate 250 More Nigerians from UAE

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has announced the upcoming repatriation of another 250 Nigerians from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

During her visit to the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, in Abuja, Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa emphasized the importance of reinforcing partnerships between Nigeria and the UAE. She highlighted NiDCOM’s efforts to engage and educate Nigerians in the UAE to be exemplary ambassadors, excel in their endeavors, and remain connected to their homeland.

Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa disclosed that 190 Nigerians had already been repatriated, with an additional 250 set to return soon. She stressed that the behavior of individuals abroad significantly affects the global perception of Nigeria, urging Nigerians to counteract negative stereotypes propagated by Western media.

Ambassador Al-Shamsi confirmed that the visa ban on Nigeria has been lifted and explained that while the Visa on Arrival policy has been canceled for all countries, the new procedures aim to promote tourism and ensure safe travel. He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to assisting Nigerians and acknowledged the country’s role in repatriating 96 Nigerians at no cost.

Celebrating his one-year tenure as UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Al-Shamsi expressed his admiration for Nigeria, praising its beauty and the warmth of its people. He expressed his readiness to continue working with NiDCOM to strengthen bilateral relations.
