Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has announced a N50 million reward for Rangers International Football Club of Enugu following their triumph in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Speaking at a state banquet held at the Government House in Enugu, the governor expressed his gratitude to the team for elevating the status of Enugu State on both the African and global stages.
“Rangers International transcends generations; it is a unifying factor for us. This achievement is not just about winning a trophy or making us proud, but about putting Enugu State in the hearts and minds of people across the country and beyond,” Governor Mbah stated.
He continued, “You have made us proud and we will, in turn, make you happy. We are awarding you N50 million in addition to other non-cash rewards that will leave a lasting legacy in our state and immortalize your achievements.”
The governor also commended the team’s management and staff for their dedication and professionalism. “I commend the General Manager, who has guided this team with a deep sense of purpose and fueled your optimism, reinforcing the ‘Never Say Die’ spirit. My sincere thanks to Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, whose professional ethics and consistency have continued to make us proud. The captain and all the players embody the true ‘Never-Say-Die’ spirit. I also acknowledge the unwavering support of the fans and the tireless efforts of the commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Lloyd Ekweremadu.”
Commissioner Ekweremadu expressed his gratitude to Governor Mbah for his steadfast support, which was instrumental in Rangers’ successful title chase.
