Nigeria is intensifying efforts to accelerate its value chain localisation initiative, involving key discussions with global stakeholders to achieve this goal.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, engaged in discussions with Chido Munyati, Head of Africa at the World Economic Forum, and Ms. Abir Ibrahim, Africa’s Regional Agenda Lead. Their talks centered on creating active linkages between the organized private sector in developed markets and critical Nigerian public-private stakeholders to advance new wealth-creating industries supported by localized supply chains.
Chief Ngelale also met with Hakeem Jimo, Country Director of ProVeg International, to explore ways to generate tangible value by reviewing food systems, which contribute up to 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions. They highlighted that sustainable agricultural practices and food system alignments could reduce forest destruction and biodiversity loss, presenting a major opportunity for Nigeria to create a new industrial ecosystem for biomass in collaboration with technical partners and investors.
In addition, the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action held talks with NASENI EVC/CEO Khalil Halilu, aligning approaches to strengthen Nigeria’s drive to localize renewable energy technology value chains. Chief Ngelale emphasized that their collaborative approach aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s team-centered strategy for problem-solving and service delivery, aiming to achieve national objectives for the benefit of Nigerians.
