The House of Representatives has reassured Nigerians that the restructuring of federal government agencies, parastatals, and commissions, as part of implementing the Oronsaye Report, will not result in job losses.
Dr. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Chairman of the House Special Ad-hoc Committee on the Restructuring of Government Agencies and Commissions, provided this assurance while addressing journalists in Abuja.
Dr. Isiaka underscored the necessity of revisiting the Oronsaye Report’s recommendations and other relevant White Papers to ensure that government agencies and commissions are realigned with current realities and the evolving needs of society.
He stressed the importance of structuring government agencies and commissions to fulfill their mandates effectively, avoiding any redundancy.
“Our aim with this review is to pinpoint redundancies, duplications, inefficiencies, and areas needing improvement within federal government agencies and commissions. We intend to use a legislative approach to streamline operations, eliminate function duplications, enhance service delivery, and optimize resource allocation,” he stated.
He assured that the review process would be comprehensive and thorough, incorporating diverse perspectives and expertise.
The Special Ad-Hoc Committee remains committed to fostering a more efficient and effective public service.
