The Deputy Comptroller of Finance Administration and Technical Service of the Nigerian Customs Service, Essien Etop Andrew, has died at the National Assembly Clinic in Abuja.
Andrew was present as a guest of the Public Account Committee of the House of Representatives for a hearing on the ongoing probe of revenue-generating agencies and government parastatals.
During the session, Andrew experienced sudden health complications and collapsed. The House of Representatives issued a statement expressing deep sadness and regret over his passing.
Condolences have been extended to his family, friends, and colleagues, recognizing Andrew’s significant contributions to the Nigeria Customs Service and the nation.
The House of Representatives is working with relevant authorities to ensure all necessary protocols are followed.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas expressed his condolences, stating his deep sorrow over the loss of a dedicated public servant and requesting patience and respect for the family’s privacy during this period of mourning.
