The Bauchi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ahmad Aliyu Jalam, died in a car accident on Saturday night. The crash, which occurred along the Misau-Darazo highway, also claimed the life of his driver.
A statement from the Governor’s Media Adviser, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, early Sunday morning confirmed that the Commissioner died instantly in the ghastly accident on the Misau-Darazo highway.
Gidado described the late Commissioner as a dedicated public servant, whose unwavering commitment to the development and well-being of his local communities was well-known.
“Late Ahmed Jalam was renowned for his tireless work, integrity, and compassion for the people he served. His service will be remembered and cherished by all,” the statement read.
Mr. Jalam was appointed Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Orientation in 2019, before being redeployed to the Ministry of Water Resources and later to the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the Governor’s second term.
Late Jalam will be buried on Sunday, June 2nd, in his hometown of Jalam, Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
