Dauda Ali-Biu, the outgoing Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has announced a 22% reduction in road accidents, injuries, and fatalities over the past twenty months.
Ali-Biu made this statement during a parade at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja, organized to mark his official departure from office.
He attributed the achievements of his administration to various welfare initiatives that motivated staff. These initiatives included the promotion of 7,188 personnel, some of whom had been stagnant at the same rank for 14 years, the employment of 3,537 new personnel, the conversion of 500 Marshal cadre personnel to Officers cadre, and the approval for 500 personnel to pursue further studies.
Other welfare measures included the release of funds to settle outstanding transfer allowances, improvements to the FRSC Housing Scheme, and the signing of the FRSC Training Institution Establishment Act to enhance personnel skills and capabilities.
Ali-Biu also highlighted strengthened partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, to address traffic infractions such as the use of trailers and trucks for human transport and the mitigation of carrying extra fuel in vehicles.
His tenure saw the creation of 113 new Commands, the addition of 335 patrol vehicles, and improvements in post-crash emergency response.
He expressed gratitude to the Management and staff of the Corps for their cooperation and dedication, stating, “My administration achieved significant progress due to the passion, commitment, and resilience of the entire workforce.”
Ali-Biu concluded by praying for continued strength and grace for the personnel to uphold the legacies of the FRSC’s founding fathers.
Ali-Biu’s departure follows the appointment of Assistant Corps Marshal Mohammed Shehu as the new Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Officer of the FRSC.
