The Nigeria Customs Service’s Joint Border Patrol Team, Sector 4, Northwest zone, has seized Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp) and D5 drugs valued at over N25 million in Kangiwa, Bachaka, and Argungu, Kebbi State. The contraband was subsequently handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state.
Comptroller Aminu Abubakar Danmusa, the Coordinator of the Joint Border Patrol Team Sector 4, emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation between the security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Customs Service and the NDLEA, to combat the drug trade.
Kebbi State Commander of the NDLEA, Suleman Usman, expressed concern over the widespread impact of drug proliferation, noting that it poses a significant threat to national security and affects all Nigerians.
Commander Usman further explained that Kebbi State is particularly vulnerable due to its borders with Niger and Benin Republics. He noted that Benin Republic is notorious for drug activities and has been labeled a drug hub in West Africa.
