Police Arrest Stepmother for Burning Hands of Co-Wife’s Children

The police have arrested 23-year-old Rachel Geoffrey for burning the hands of her co-wife’s two children in Adamawa State.

Rachel, a resident of Federal Housing Estate in Girei local government area, inflicted severe injuries on 7-year-old Genesis Geoffrey and 3-year-old Ijadai Geoffrey.

The children’s mother had separated from their father, who is also Rachel’s husband.

The incident occurred after Rachel cooked rice for her husband and left the house. The hungry children ate their father’s food in her absence. Enraged, Rachel tied the children’s hands with handkerchiefs and set their hands on fire, causing severe injuries.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, urged parents to fulfill their responsibilities in providing for their children. He also promised a thorough prosecution of the case.
