Five individuals lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries in a fatal accident along the old Ogbomoso-Oyo Road in Oyo State on Friday. The incident occurred near Ogbomoso, between Elega and Oolo, when an articulated truck and a Sharon bus collided head-on. The crash left three males and two females dead, while two males and one female were injured.
Oyo State FRSC Commander Rosemary UK Alo confirmed the details on Saturday, stating that the accident involved a truck with registration number LRN 185 YR and an unregistered commercial vehicle. The injured victims were rushed to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, while the deceased were taken to the hospital morgue. Alo cautioned drivers against excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking, which she cited as the primary causes of the crash. Various items, including school bags, smartphones, and cash, were recovered from the scene, and the vehicles have been towed by the police for further investigation.
