Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State has instituted a 24-hour curfew on Katagum Local Government Area, effective immediately.
Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, the Secretary to the State Government, announced the decision, citing the worsening security situation in Azare, the local government headquarters, and its surrounding areas.
The statement indicated that protests in the area had been hijacked, resulting in significant destruction of public property, vandalism, and theft.
Governor Muhammad has instructed security agencies to intervene and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted.
The statement also urged law-abiding citizens to cooperate with security personnel during this challenging period.
